Niousha Soleimani, AMFT
Welcome, my name is Niousha, and I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist.
There is a large misconception that people go to therapy only if there is a big enough reason like trauma, divorce, or illness. I once heard therapy referred to as a shower for the mind. As long as someone is living and breathing, they are allowed to process, and nothing is ever too big or too small to process. I have further experience working with teens and family conflict, interfaith relationships, and ‘Coming-Out’. I want to join you on your journey whether you want to address a current symptom or long-term concerns.
Let me hold hope and provide a nonjudgmental space for you on your journey to wholeness and health.
My interest in psychology and therapy developed in my high school years because I wanted to learn more about human nature. I thought therapy was amazing and I simply wanted to become a therapist so that I can help others. It motivated me through my undergrad in Psychology at San Francisco State University and my Master’s in Clinical Psychology at Phillips Graduate Institute.
My clinical interests include acculturation, cultural awareness, sexual health, anxiety, and depression. Some of my preferred modalities are Person-Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focused Therapy, however, I believe each client responds to therapy differently and my goal is to create a curious space for self-awareness.
I am particularly interested in the intersectionality of trauma, culture, and mental health. I work from a systems perspective, meaning that I will often explore how relationships, culture, and other systems impact your wellbeing and health.
My life experience and background inform my empathy and treatment. My intersectionality and different lenses make me much more receptive and able to hold space for others’ cultures and backgrounds.
Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy comedy, music, podcasts, cooking, and puzzles.
